Manaslu Full Service Expedition

Overview

Manaslu with height of 8163m is the eighth highest mountain in the world. This mountain is located 40 miles to the east of Annapurna in Central- Western Nepal. Manaslu full service Expedition is taken by many as an alternative to Cho Oyu Climbing. Once a restricted area, Manaslu region was opened for trekking since 1991. First successful climbing of Mt Manaslu was done by the Japanese team led by Toshio Imanishi in 9th May of 1956. What’s peculiar about this expedition was that it was all female team.
Manaslu Expedition allows a great geographical variation where you will start your trek from crop field at lower elevation and the elevation increases gradually to the valley of glaciers. Located at a very remote place, Manaslu Expedition itinerary is longer as it requires more days to reach to the Base Camp of Manaslu Mountain.
Climbing Manaslu is a challenging activity and is suitable for only experienced climbers. Makalu Extreme Treks & Expedition provides full board service as well as base camp service for Expedition. Climbing Route for Manaslu Expedition is bit technical and pretty much straight forward. Standard Manaslu climbing route stretches along northeast face of Manaslu. People also take Manaslu as a training mountain for climbing Everest.  March to May and September to November is considered as the best season for Manaslu Trek. However, people can also climb Manaslu in April, May, October and November. Weather remains unpredictable at this area.
Manaslu Expedition Route
Leaving Kathmandu, we will drive via Arughat to Soti Khola. The trail continues through Machha Khola Village to Jagat village. We will walk through the culturally rich villages of Namrung and Samagaon to Samdo and reach Base Camp of Manaslu Mountain.
Manaslu Climbing Strategy
There will be 3 High Camps Above Base Camp of Manaslu. Camp I will be located at 5500m altitude while Camp II will be located at 6300m and Camp III will be located at 7300m altitude. The route climbs through angled snow slopes where we need to use fixed ropes.
